DME runs undergraduate courses in the area of Law, Media, and Management. The Teaching method adopted is learner/student-centric in nature. Teachers focus on making the overall learning outcome-oriented and rewarding experience.   1. Project Work:Students are given Group project work to inculcate group-based teamwork involving learning. The group later presents the findings in form of a report and presentation. These projects can range from Minor Projects in semester one, to major projects or dissertations in the final semesters.
  2. Model Making:Students are engaged in activities like prototype making, creating from waste, Mural making, Collage on the theme, etc. to integrate creative participation in the team.
  3. MOOC Courses:Students are encouraged and presently made mandatory to take (Massive Open Online Courses) MOOCs offered by premier institutions of the country. They include online lectures, demonstrations, and interaction through zoom sessions for query resolution.
  4. Short Movie Making:Media students make short movies for a showcase of teamwork including scriptwriting, directing, casting, shooting, editing, audio-video software skills, etc.
  5. Model United Nation: MUN or Youth Parliament is regularly conducted at college for the students to participate and present their views
  6. Debates: it is a regular feature of Literary society as well as subject-based learning where topics are given not only from the syllabus but also on a variety of interdisciplinary topics to promote free thinking and expression in students.
  7. Group Discussions: An integral part of placement training is the GD exercise which is conducted at periodic intervals to train and groom students. Topics are mostly recent scenario based.

  1. Industrial Visits:Management students regularly have been taken on industry visits to understand the process of quality management, production, inventory management, etc. places like Yakult, Mother Dairy, Danone, Coco-Cola, BSE, etc.
  2. Field Visits:Law students undertake a visit to Parliament House, Jail, NHRC, National Green Tribunal, and Supreme Court to understand the legal machinery working. Media Students are taken to various Printing presses, radio houses, and TV channel production units to understand the press and media real-world working. For example, “Aap ki Adalat” newsroom, All India Radio(AIR), Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran press etc.
  3. Summer Internship:Practical training/Summer internships in Industry are mandatory at present for all Law, Media, and Management Students.
  4. Industry Projects: Projects or consultancy work in industry collaborations are undertaken to enrich students with pre-employment training.
  5. Industry Interaction: Conference Key Note Speakers, Conclave Guests, Panel Discussion members, Movie Festival Jury Members, Moot Court Judges etc
  6. Guest lectures:Periodic visits from industry stalwarts are held for LIVE sessions on experience and sharing and Q&A by students in the end. The topics are relevant to employment skills by personnel from respective organizations/industries.

Research Orientation:Students are encouraged to do field questionnaire-based surveys, and interviews and use secondary data to analyze and resolve the research problem by giving adequate recommendations to Government, Society, and Industry. Students present Seminar papers and get their research published also under faculty guidance.
  2. Software Labs: Students are involved in learning the latest software like SPSS, Tableau, Power BI, Nvivo, etc. to analyze and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  3. Role Plays: Situation-based role plays are conducted to enhance the understanding of that subject by experiencing a situation in a controlled environment and demonstrating the outcome.
  4. Organizing Events: Students make committees and manage various cultural and curricular events which help to improve their organizing, team working, budgeting, and crisis management skills by becoming part of that experience.
  5. Audio Video Lab: Media students learn various media software in the area of audio-video editing etc.
  6. Studio 62: State of Art DME Studio is well equipped to give media students the experience of working at any studio after completion of their course.

ICT-enabled Participative-Collaborative, Experiential, and Problem-solving Student Centric Methodologies

DME became a robust ICT-enabled digital campus long before the pandemic. It was a visionary decision to make the learning process student-centric thereby enhancing the student experience. Every student gets an individual email id on the DME G-suite domain, ERP login Id, and Turnitin Login id for the entire duration of their course at DME. Implementation of academic ERP with Turnitin integration was done to reduce the response time and enable swift transmission of paperless content. Faculty conducts online MCQ tests after every unit completion. e-Course pack is provided in all subjects which are uploaded on the ERP and available for students to study anywhere anytime. Flip – Classroom methods are used where faculty prepares video content which is uploaded on the ERP for students to view followed by LIVE doubt solving.

Each classroom is equipped with an LCD projector to enable the faculty to present the course topic as a PowerPoint presentation. Video case studies are shown via Smart Boards followed by analysis. Viewing documentaries and interviews with entrepreneurs is a common practice during entrepreneurship development classes. LIVE Budget session telecast in the Studio 62 followed by analysis. E-industrial Visit of Yakult Industry is also conducted for experiential learning. Zoom/ Google meet are extensively used for conducting workshops and guest lectures.

SWAYAM and NPTEL-led MOOCs are popular at DME for skill enhancement. Law students are encouraged to discuss landmark cases from SSL online and Manupatra e-subscriptions. LinkedIn workshop for networking and collaboration is a regular feature to make students connected with the professional world. Students are taught to make Video-CVs for high impact.

Extensive use of Google Scholar for referencing, Google Slides for students’ collaborative group presentations, Google Drive to save large files like collaborative projects, Google Forms to do surveys and collect information, Google spreadsheets to share data.

Students are taught MS. Excel and Advanced Excel for Data Analytics, MS. Power BI for Data Visualization, MS. PowerPoint for Presentations, and MS. Word for Assignments writing. Research problem solving via the use of MS. Excel tool is a regular feature. MS Power BI tool is taught to students to make visually impactful presentations and reports.

Research Methodology Workshops on SPSS, Nvivo, Medley, etc. are conducted to teach the latest software to understand problem-solving methods. The use of Turnitin software is taught to all students via a workshop to conduct similarity check for all assignments, research, and project work.

Media students learn various media software in the area of audio-video editing like Adobe, Photoshop, Canva, etc. to develop newsletters, logos, brochures, creatives, etc. State of Art DME Studio is well-equipped to give media students the experience of working at any professional studio. Experience in handling professional Mic and Sound instruments, still and video cameras, sophisticated editing software, etc. brings confidence in Media Students.
