DME has a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging or any form of bullying. It strictly adheres to the policies laid down by University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding ragging and has formed its Anti-Ragging Committee to look into these issues. Any student facing Ragging or Bullying issue may freely email the concern at antiragginghelpline@dme.ac.in

Q: What is Ragging?
- Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or a junior student.
- Indulging in a rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student.
- Asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.
Q: Why would anyone indulge in ragging?
- To derive a sadistic pleasure
- To show off power, authority or superiority over juniors or freshers.
Q: Is some form of Ragging good? Is asking to Dance/Sing or Tell a Joke allowed?
- Ragging, in any form, is a reprehensible act which does no good to anyone.
- Every act of ragging, major or minor, including asking to sing, dance or tell a poem or joke is beyond the limits of decency, morality and humanity. Civilised societies across the world are doing away with this nefarious practice.
- Asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.
Q: What is ‘zero tolerance’ policy?
- No act of ragging, major or minor, shall go unnoticed.
- No ragger, male or female, student, or non-student, shall go unpunished.
DME adheres to Zero Tolerance Policy in any act of Ragging/Bullying
- The institutions shall take action in accordance with these Regulations against those found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, actively or passively, or being part of a conspiracy to promote ragging.
- The application for admission, enrolment or registration is always accompanied by an Anti-Ragging affidavit signed by a student in a prescribed format and another Anti Ragging Affidavit signed by a Parent/Guardian.
- The anti-ragging squad holds an anti-ragging drive at the beginning of each academic year in the orientation session to ensure zero ragging.
- The squad patrols area around the college and checks the identity cards of each and every person entering the college.
The institution shall punish a student found guilty of ragging after following the procedure and in the manner prescribed here in under:
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits.
- Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process.
- Withholding results.
- Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national, or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period
Disciplinary Committee maintains discipline, dignity, decorum, and rapport of the institute. Controlling the students through rules and regulations and channelization their youth energy into positive and creative direction and promotion of the manners, personality, character, and civilization
Objectives:
- To maintain the activities of college joint venture in regards to disciplinary act.
- To uplift the student’s potential and to develop them as a balanced citizen in the society.
- The institute is driven with a passion and mission for imparting peaceful, safe, and friendly environment.
- To scrutinize and prevent any indisciplinary activities (lack of attendance, unpunctuality, misbehaving with staff, patients or colleague, damage to college property) and riots.
- To provide a medium through which the committee can monitor and control the discipline of its students.
Functions:
- To make the rules and regulations as per the disciplinary requirement.
- To make the student aware about the discipline.
- To make the student follow the disciplinary rules.
- To take disciplinary action against any of the misconduct.
DME has zero tolerance policy towards sexual harassment of cases at the campus and extended campus/working as well as digital working.
The Supreme Court of India in Vishakha v. State of Rajasthan, (1997) 7 SCC 323, has also reaffirmed that sexual harassment at work place is a form of discrimination against women. It violates the constitutional right to gender equality. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India had provided guidelines to address this issue pending the enactment of a suitable legislation by the Parliament. Indian Parliament in its wisdom has enacted “the sexual harassment of women at workplace (prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act, 2013 (Act No 14 of 2013).
The directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court and provisions of Act No 14 of 2013, are to be followed in letter and spirits. In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (g) of sub section (1) of section 26 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Act No. 3 of 1956) read with sub section (1) of section 20 of the said Act, University Grants Commission has made and notified UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of women employees and students in higher educational institutions) Regulations, 2015. These regulations were notified w.e.f., 2nd May, 2016
In compliance with above mentioned provisions, DME has constituted an internal complaint committee (here-in-after referred to as ICC) as follows:
- The ICC will enquire and look after the complaints of sexual harassment received from any student or faculty member in accordance with U. G. C. (Prevention, Prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women employees and students in higher educational institutes) Regulations, 2015
- The student members of the ICC will participate in the proceedings of ICC only if the complaint is received against another student of the college.

DME is committed to providing a fair and harmonious learning and work environment. Grievance Redressal Committee was set up at DME in accordance with the University Grants Commission regulations 2012 (The Gazette of India, March 23-29, 2013) for handling day-to-day grievances related to employees, students, and parents. Grievance Redressal Cell facilitates the resolution of grievances in a fair and impartial manner involving the respective School / Dept. / Office (dealing with the substantive function connected with the grievance), maintaining necessary confidentiality. Any stakeholder with a genuine grievance may approach Grievance Redressal Committee to submit his/her grievance in writing or send through e-mail on grievance@dme.ac.in

Objectives:
- To ensure a fair, impartial, and consistent mechanism for redressal of varied issues faced by the stakeholders
- To uphold the dignity of DME by promoting cordial Student-Student relationship, Student-teacher relationship.

The Equal Opportunity Committee aims at facilitating a positive institutional environment that upholds Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion for all members of DME. The Committee works towards its commitment of creating avenues for all students to fulfil their potential and create awareness among the members of the institution to the needs of students with special needs and under-represented sections of the society. The committee is convened in a timely manner for addressing minority concerns and making recommendations for the integration and empowerment of members. The committee actively engages with the institutional/departmental bodies and cells/societies/committees for advocating the emphasis on pluralism and social justice in the institute. National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 students in various universities, colleges and Institutions of higher learning have volunteered to take part in various community service programmes.

- All the youth volunteers who opt to serve the nation through the NSS led community service wear the NSS badge with pride and a sense of responsibility towards helping needy.
- The Konark wheel in the NSS badge having 8 bars signifies the 24 hours of a the day, reminding the wearer to be ready for the service of the nation round the clock i.e. for 24 hours.
- Red colour in the badge signifies energy and spirit displayed by the NSS volunteers.
- The Blue colour signifies the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind.
